- "I love the discipline, focus, and self defense aspects"

- "she very much enjoys the camaraderie with the other students."

- "Chris Hatcher works wonderfully with the kids and is able to inspire them"

Tracy, mother of 9 year old student,

When my 8 year old "girlie girl" told me she was serious about karate, I thought to myself that it would last only until she had to make some stinging contact with something.  I love the discipline, focus and self defense aspects of muay thai, so I happily took her to Tomekichi, upon recommendation, to see what she thought about it.

Chris Hatcher gave Katie a complimentary private lesson that day, and we've basically been there twice a week ever since.  Katie's agility/coordination and confidence in herself has improved markedly since she began in August 2007, and she very much enjoys the camaraderie with the other students.  Chris Hatcher works wonderfully with the kids and is able to inspire them to perform in a fun-filled atmosphere.  Katie's favorite part of class is "dodge ball," a reward given at the end of good classes.

- "I'm thrilled that my son enjoys this program on so many levels."

- "Treated first with respect, students are encouraged and motivated to take risks and stretch their limits."

- "Class time is hard work but fun and interactive and students walk away with a sense of accomplishment."

Kay, mother of 10 year old student,

My son was one of the first students to join Tomekichi Martial Arts.  It was a great decision on my part!  I have watched my son grow in the areas of responsibility, self control and discipline as well as gain the benefits of a great cardio work out with each session.  As an educator, I have known for years about the connections between the martial arts and the self discipline and independence we need from students in the classroom. As a parent, I can now speak to that first hand.  I have been impressed with the manner in which Mr. Hatcher and his staff work with the students.  They are models of what they expect from their students.  Treated first with respect, students are encouraged and motivated to take risks and stretch their limits.  This helps to build a mindset of capability.  Class time is hard work but fun and interactive and students walk away with a sense of accomplishment.  Goal setting is important as well.  As students build competency and skill, belt tests serve as a way to demonstrate this proficiency and give students an opportunity to “show what they know”.  Regardless of the level, the students encourage and support one another through this process.  I am thrilled that my son enjoys the program on so many levels.  This program is well run, organized but most importantly all about the kids.

- "Great things happen at Tomekichi Martial Arts"

- "They have developed many skills that have crossed over into other areas of their life"

- "Muay Thai with Chris has been such a good experience we have signed up for the year."

Candice, mother of 6 and 8 year students,

Great things happen at Tomekichi Martial Arts. My son and daughter started in August and look forward to every class with instructor, Mr. Chris, who is so good with the kids. They have developed many skills that have crossed over into other areas of their life - self esteem, balance, protection, and thinking skills.

Corey has an extra special story. He has mild cerebral palsy and seizures. Chris has worked very patiently and consistently with Corey on his skills. Within the first 2 months Corey learned how to do a somersault for the first time. He can now balance on one foot for kicks, sequence the drills, and his physical therapy was reduced to once a month instead of every week.  He even did a correct safe fall while walking on ice which in the past would have been an injury.

Muay Thai with Chris at Tomekichi has been such a good experience we have signed up for the year.

- "I can attest to the value of these classes and the dedication of the staff."

- "To say we have been pleased with the results so far is an understatement."

- "Every class is a family event."

Joe, father of 5 year old student

As an educator, it is very apparent to me that the staff of Tomekichi Martial Arts embodies great teaching skill and values.  They empower every student to become the best, while incorporating a sense of belonging and teamwork.  As a parent of a child who has become enamored and enthusiastic with every class meeting, I can attest to the value of these classes and dedication of the staff.  In fact, when given the chance, I always recommend Tomekichi and Mr. Hatcher to any parent considering placing their child into a martial arts learning environment.

To say we have been pleased with the results so far is an understatement... we are as happy with the classes and instruction as our child is... and every class is a family event.  We will continue to have our child learn from the staff as it has benefited us all.

- "She really enjoys taking classes and she feels she's learned discipline."

- "She loves Demo Team and getting to learn things outside of class."

Stephanie, mother of 10 year old student

This is what Kayla asked me to say

She really enjoys taking classes and feels she's learned discipline.  She likes that when class starts everyone listens.  She feels she has gotten much stronger since taking this class.   She's learned determination especially when she was testing for the orange belt and didn't feel well but pushed through the endurance portion of the test.  She loves demo team and getting to learn different things outside the classes.

- "Martial Arts has been wonderful for Ethan's self-confidence."

- "Chris has been an awesome role model for the boys and girls!"

Cheryl, Mother of 10 year old student

Martial Arts has been wonderful for Ethan's self-confidence. Unlike team sports, he can excel at his own rate and challenge himself. Martial Arts has helped with his concentration and resulted in better focus at school. Each belt achievement is a reachable goal which can be attainable with a little determination!

Chris has been an awesome role model for the boys and girls! He encourages them to push the limit on their abilities. His enthusiasm for the arts is contagious and the students really flourish under his guidance.

- "I knew this was where I could keep my passion for martial arts going."

- "It has kept me fit, expanded my knowledge, but most of all been a joy to go to every week."

Kyle, 17 year old student

Growing tired of the same old practices and games I finally decided to quit my old sport that all the kids my age were playing. Soccer was simply not as fun as it once was. Soon after we moved from Georgia to New Jersey. Following in the mood of our new change, I too, changed my sport. When I was 13 I decided to start taking martial arts on the encouragement of my friend Mike. After taking several months of Taekwondo, I noticed I was eagerly waiting for the end of the school day so that I might go to class and do what I had now discovered I had a passion for. As the years went by and the understanding of not only how to fight but when it's appropriate I developed a physically stronger body and a stronger sense of self-discipline. In the summer of 2007 we moved back to Georgia. Seeing as another new change (yet quite familiar all the same) had come across my path again, I chose a new martial art. I stumbled upon Tomekichi Martial Arts one day (thank god) and was simply intrigued by "muay thai kickboxing" and "jiujitsu". After several minutes with the head instructor Chris Hatcher, I knew that this was where I could keep my passion for martial arts going. I signed up in early August and have been training ever sense. It has kept me fit, expanded my knowledge, but most of all been a joy to go to every week.

- "It was great to see my 5 year old son getting great exercise in his muay thai class while learning to follow specific and immediate directions."

- "The kids have a lot of fun and really get into it, which is great to see."

- "If you think for a second this is of interest to you, make the leap and do it."

Olie, adult student and father of 5 year old student

It was great to see my 5 year old son getting great exercise in his Muay Thai class while learning how to follow specific and immediate direction from an instructor. Chris Hatcher knows what he's doing and knows how to command the attention of kids which is no small task. I felt very good about my son's increasing abilities including his self confidence. The kids have lots of fun and really get into it, which is great to see.

Attending the Brazilian Ju Jitsu class taught by Frank Mariska is a great way to get in shape, give your self confidence a boost, and learn some really amazing training techniques, take downs and chokes from an incredible instructor. If you think for a second that this is of interest to you, make that leap and do it. You won't regret a second. Frank's teaching methods are serious and down to earth. As an inclusive instructor, no one falls behind as he makes sure everyone understands the instruction and even works with you one on one when you need further explanation or demonstration of a technique. A wealth of knowledge and know how with a great personality, Frank Mariska is *the* instructor you want for Brazilian Ju Jitsu. I am personally convinced that Frank is really an anaconda that has learned to walk and talk, but you be the judge.

- "This school is brand new and kept very clean (unlike other schools I have seen)."

- "The people who take classes here are polite and pleasant to train with."

Jesse, 17 year old student

Tomekichi martial arts is a great mixed martial arts school. I take jiu jitsu there and it's a great experience. Frank is the adult teacher there and is very experienced in fighting skills. Not only is Frank very easy to get along with but he goes at a pace everyone can catch on to easily. This school is brand new and kept very clean (unlike other schools I have seen). The people who take classes here are very polite and pleasant to be around. If you're looking for a great affordable school for mixed martial arts Tomekichi is a very good choice, I recommend it before any other.
