Pilates Programs:

Pilates Mat Work and Pilates Fitness

Both classes are under one curriculum with each class on alternating days,
when you sign up for Pilates you have access to both classes.

All Pilates classes are taught by certified Pilates instructor Mrs. Geovanna Brooks.  Pilates is a physical fitness system developed in the early 20th century by Joseph Pilates. As of 2005 there are 11 million people who practice the discipline regularly.  Pilates called his method Contrology, because he believed his method uses the mind to control the muscles.  The program focuses on the core postural muscles which help keep the body balanced and which are essential to providing support for the spine. In particular, Pilates exercises teach awareness of breath and alignment of the spine, and aim to strengthen the deep torso muscles.

Pilates Mat Work

In this class you'll learn how to put into practice the ruling principles of the Pilates Method, which are concentration, control, center, fluidity, precision, breathing, imagination, intuition and integration.  By practicing the breathing technique and the connection between mind and body, we combine all the elements so you will experience how Pilates exercises start from you "powerhouse" (abdominal muscles, lower back, hips and buttocks).  You will learn how to work out your whole body with each single Pilates movement.  Adapted to all fitness levels, this class will change the way you have been working out, and you will notice a transformation coming from inside - out.  With the regular practice of Pilates Mat Work, you will strengthen and tone muscles, improve posture while providing balance and flexibility, creating a more streamlined shape, and teaching you that the body is the finest and only tool necessary for achieving physical fitness.

Pilates Fitness Class
